Installing FlexExt Store All Editions

FlexExt Store is distributed as a single unified Joomla Package (pkg_flexext_store_vX.Y.Z.zip). Installing the package automatically deploys the core commerce component, essential system and content plugins, media assets, and initializes all database tables in a single operation.

Before you start​

Ensure your hosting environment is prepared:

  1. PHP Upload Limits: The package archive is approximately 12–15 MB. Ensure your PHP configuration allows file uploads of this size:
    • upload_max_filesize ≥ 32M
    • post_max_size ≥ 32M
    • memory_limit ≥ 128M (256M recommended)
  2. Directory Permissions: Ensure the following Joomla directories are writable by the web server user:
    • administrator/components/
    • components/
    • media/
    • plugins/
  3. Backup Your Site: As a standard best practice, take an Akeeba Backup or full database dump before installing major extensions.

In your Joomla Administrator panel:

System → Install → Extensions

Step-by-Step Installation​

Download the Extension Package​

Sign in to your account at flexext.dev/account/downloads and download the latest release archive:

pkg_flexext_store_v1.3.6.zip

Do not extract this zip archive. It is ready for direct installation in Joomla.

Open Joomla Extensions Installer​

Navigate to System → Install → Extensions in the Joomla Administrator. Select the Upload Package File tab.

Upload and Install the Package​

Drag and drop pkg_flexext_store_v1.3.6.zip into the dashed upload dropzone, or click Or browse for file to select it from your local computer.

Joomla will automatically:

  • Upload and unpack the package archive.
  • Install the com_flexext_store component files.
  • Install and enable required system plugins.
  • Execute SQL migration scripts to build all store tables (#__flexext_store_products, orders, categories, settings, etc.).
  • Register media assets (CSS, JavaScript, SVG icons) in the Web Asset Manager.

Verify Installation Success​

Upon completion, you will see a green confirmation message:

Installation of the package was successful.

You should also see the summary card listing the installed component and plugins.

Access the FlexExt Store Dashboard​

Navigate to Components → FlexExt Store → Dashboard to begin store setup.

Post-Installation Checklist​

After the initial installation succeeds, complete these 3 verification steps:

  1. Activate Commercial License: Navigate to Components → FlexExt Store → License & Activation and enter your key to unlock edition features.
  2. Create a Storefront Menu Item:
    • Go to Menus → Main Menu → + Add New Menu Item.
    • Set Menu Item Type → FlexExt Store → Products Showcase & Catalog.
    • Set Title to Store or Shop and click Save & Close.
  3. Verify Currency & Taxes: Check Components → FlexExt Store → Settings to confirm your domestic VAT rate and base currency.

Troubleshooting​

"The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini"​

The package file is larger than your PHP upload limit. Increase the limits in your hosting control panel (cPanel, Plesk, or .user.ini / php.ini):

post_max_size = 64M
memory_limit = 256M

Alternatively, upload via the Install from Folder tab by extracting the zip to your server's tmp/ folder.

"JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file"​

Ensure you are uploading the complete package file (pkg_flexext_store_*.zip) and not a nested sub-plugin or documentation folder.

"Table '#__flexext_store_products' doesn't exist"​

If a server timeout interrupted table creation, navigate to System → Maintenance → Database in Joomla and click Update Database to execute any missing SQL migrations.
